Manatee Gas Field: A Milestone for Trinidad & Tobago — and AdON Group’s Role

The Manatee Gas Field — located offshore in the East Coast Marine Area (ECMA) of Trinidad and Tobago — represents one of the most significant new natural-gas developments in the country’s recent history. Operated by Shell Trinidad and Tobago (a subsidiary of Shell plc), the field sits within sub-Block 6D under a production-sharing contract.

  •  The field forms the Trinidad portion of the wider cross-border Loran–Manatee gas field, whose total resource is estimated at about 10.04 trillion cubic feet (tcf) of gas — with roughly 2.712 tcf attributed to Manatee.
  • With a final investment decision (FID) reached in July 2024, Manatee is slated to begin production in 2027. Once fully operational, it is expected to deliver a peak output of approximately 104,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (~ 604 million standard cubic feet per day), with an anticipated operational life of about 13 years.
  • The project involves drilling eight horizontal development wells tied back to a normally unmanned offshore platform. From there, gas and condensate will be exported via a 110 km, 32-inch pipeline to the onshore processing facility at Beachfield Gas Processing Facility. Subsequently, processed gas will supply domestic markets via National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago (NGC) and feed into the country’s LNG export capacity through the Atlantic LNG facility.
  • This development marks a key strategic advance — securing gas supply for both domestic use and LNG exports, and reinforcing Trinidad and Tobago’s role as a major regional gas supplier.

AdON Group’s Participation — Supporting the Beachfield Manatee Upgrade

Importantly, AdON Group plays a direct and vital role in supporting the onshore infrastructure component of the Manatee project:

As part of the broader onshore upgrade under the project’s midstream scope (the so-called Beachfield Manatee Upgrade, BMU), AdON Group — in partnership with Massy Wood and Heritage Petroleum — has been contracted to undertake the relocation of the 480 V electrical conductor system.

This work is part of the enhancements required to increase throughput capacity at the onshore Beachfield processing facility and to integrate the incoming Manatee gas stream into existing downstream systems (including domestic supply lines and export infrastructure).

Through this involvement, AdON Group demonstrates our ability to deliver on critical onshore engineering and construction services — supporting major energy-sector clients and contributing to national energy security and growth.
