Project Highlight: Electrical & Instrumentation Installation for Steam Generator Project – Heritage, Forest Reserve

Project Overview

To enhance oil recovery from mature reservoirs, Heritage Petroleum Company Limited commissioned a steam generator at its operations in the Forest Reserve. The project forms part of the operator’s enhanced oil recovery (EOR) strategy, utilizing steam injection to improve the mobility of heavy crude and increase production from existing wells.

AdON Group was engaged as the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) contractor, responsible for installing and integrating the electrical and control infrastructure required to safely operate the steam generation facility.

The Challenge

Steam generation systems used in enhanced oil recovery require precise monitoring, reliable power distribution, and robust instrumentation to maintain safe and efficient operations in an oilfield environment.

The project required the integration of electrical and instrumentation systems capable of operating in a hazardous hydrocarbon environment, while also supporting the high thermal and process demands associated with continuous steam production.

AdON Group’s Scope of Work

As the E&I contractor, AdON Group delivered the installation and integration of key electrical and instrumentation systems supporting the steam generator facility.

Electrical Installation

  • Installation of power distribution systems for the steam generator and supporting equipment

  • Cable tray installation, cable pulling, and termination

  • Motor control and power connectivity for auxiliary equipment

Instrumentation Installation

  • Installation of field instrumentation for pressure, temperature, and flow monitoring

  • Instrument cable routing and termination

  • Integration of process control instrumentation to support monitoring and operational control

Testing & Commissioning Support

  • Loop checks and verification of instrumentation signals

  • Functional testing of electrical systems

  • Support for commissioning activities to ensure system readiness and operational reliability

The Solution

AdON Group executed the electrical and instrumentation installation in accordance with industry standards for oil and gas facilities operating in hazardous environments. Careful coordination with the project team ensured that all systems were installed, tested, and integrated to support reliable steam generation operations.

Project Impact

The commissioning of the steam generator enables the implementation of steam injection enhanced oil recovery, a proven technique used to improve production from mature reservoirs. By reducing the viscosity of heavy crude, injected steam allows oil to flow more easily toward production wells, increasing recovery efficiency.

AdON Group’s contribution ensured that the facility’s electrical and instrumentation systems operate safely and reliably, providing the infrastructure necessary to support continuous steam generation and reservoir injection.

Outcome

The successful commissioning of the steam generator marks an important milestone in the continued development of the Forest Reserve field. Through its role as E&I contractor, AdON Group delivered critical installation expertise that supports improved oil recovery and long-term field productivity.
